When we talk about Ecuadorian education many events come to my mind, specially facts that had never changed and are still the same, without changing at all. I studied in a Public School, which gives me a deeper look about this topic. I used to have teachers that just went to work to sit on their chairs and told us to open the book in an X page and we learned just by memorizing because we were very afraid of failing the course. But not everything was negative, there were some really good teachers that inspired me. One of them was, I don't know if she is still alive, Adalgiza Hidalgo, her classes were full of magic, and thanks to her I decided to become an English teacher.
There are many aspects that need to be fixed in Ecuadorian Education in order to improve the quality of students we want to have in the future. It's not only the Ministry of Education but also the principals and teachers of each school that have to work hard to reach these standards. SO far the Ministry of Education is making good changes, but there is some kind of resistance from part of some teachers. It is important to notice that some changes are good and that even though money and salary is important is also important to take into consideration the needs of the most affected, our students.
